In episode 17 of the History Channel’s Vikings, Ivar the Boneless declared war on the whole world:
” … In the name of our dead father, in the name of Ragnar Lodbrok, the greatest hero of our country, and in the name of Odin, we declare war on the whole world.”
Ivar was one of the sons of Ragnar Lodbrok according to the saga of Ragnar Lodbrok. The declaration of war in episode 17 of the History Channel’s television series, which is very loosely based on the saga, was in order to avenge the execution of Ragnar by one of the English Kings, Aelle of Northumbria.
In his inaugural address, Donald Trump essentially declared war on the political world, that is on the establishments of both parties:
” … today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another — but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People.
For too long, a small group in our nation’s Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished — but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered — but the jobs left, and the factories closed.
The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs; and while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.
That all changes — starting right here, and right now, … “
As you know if you watched Episode 18, Ivar and the other sons of Ragnar Lodbrok were spectacularly successful in the first step of their quest for vengeance, defeating the army of their father’s killer, King Aelle of Northumbria, and subsequently killing him in a most gruesome fashion.
As for President Trump’s war on the political establishment, we’ll find out shortly.
