Back from Orlando, and tan, rested and ready.  OK maybe not that tan or rested, but certainly ready — an all new Ed Mosca Show, including:

  • Political observations from Disney
  • Thoughts on John Stephen’s announcement
  • The “Party of No”
  • Maggie Hassan and her hackneyed hospital commission
  • What kind of socialist is Obama

SOME THOUGHTS ON SCOTT BROWN

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Re John Stephen:  Of course 10 months is a lifetime politically speaking, and John Lynch is no Martha Coakley, but there may never be a better opportunity to run for Governor, and get elected, as now.  Should be thinking really hard about it.

Re John Lynch:  Hoping someone will tell him that the last year has all been a bad dream.

Re Paul Hodes:  Better make that call to Billy Shaheen about getting your old job back; you are not long for this political world.

Re Kelly Ayotte:  Timing is everything, and it looks like her timing is impeccable.

Re Fran Guinta:  See re Kelly Ayotte.

Re Carol Porter:  Who knows what goes on in the head of an uber moon-bat.

Re Charlie Bass:  Gotta be really happy that Bob Guida is in the race to pull votes away from Jennifer Horn.  Otherwise, the voters’ mood for a house-cleaning and fresh faces would make the primary a lot more competitive for the old war-horse.

Re Jennifer Horn:  Gotta be hoping that conservative voters don’t do what they always seem to do, which is to split their votes and let the moderate win.

Re John Kacavas:  Telling himself, over and over again, it’s a long time to 2012, and Obama can turn it around, just like Clinton did, so I can run for Governor.

Re Ray Buckley:  See John Lynch.

Re John Sununu, the senior:  If I am dreaming, please don’t wake me up.

Re Dave Boutin:  Trying to do his best Scott Brown impersonation.

Re Jeff Goley:  Probably heavily soiled his pants around 9 pm last night.

REAL HEALTH CARE REFORM

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

GUINTA.FRANKI recommend an op-ed by Frank Guinta in today’s union leader regarding “Obamacare,” which present some serious suggestions for reform.  Here is the link.   I don’t agree with all of his proposals, but I think he is on the right track as a matter of policy and politically.

As to the latter, I think that Republicans need to frame the debate / make the case in terms of liberty.  For example,

  1. Nobody should be forced to buy health insurance if he or she doesn’t want to buy health insurance.
  2. Nobody should be forced to buy health insurance coverage that he or she doesn’t want to buy.  I have no need for in vitro fertilization or stomach-stapling surgery.  I shouldn’t be forced to subsidize someone else’s purchase of these types of insurance.
  3. Nobody’s health insurance premiums should be determined by runaway juries.

I can’t put my finger on it  right now, but John Stephen recently wrote a very good op-ed on health care reform.  If I can find it, I’ll post it.

ENOUGH ABOUT EARMARKS

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

pigsattrough1Chuck Douglas had an op-ed in Sunday’s Concord Monitor, taking Paul Hodes to task over earmarks.  Don’t get me wrong I think the idea that the taxpayers of the various States should send money to the federal government for the federal government to then redistribute among the States is idiotic and immoral.  But earmarks are just a fraction of the budget, as the anointed one pointed out in his, I believe, first debate with McCain.  If you got rid of every earmark today, you would hardly put a chip in the massive federal budget deficit.  And earmarks don’t resonate.  If they did, McCain would be President today and Stephen would be in Congress.  So enough about earmarks already.
